MOBAA
The Museum of Bay Area Art (MOBAA) is dedicated to housing the works of both past and contemporary artists associated with the Bay Area. Recognizing all expressions of art and culture, this building provides open and adaptable exhibition spaces for artists and performers alike to showcase their ideas. Each exhibition is stacked atop one another each providing their own unique stage; auditorium, atrium, open hallways. Although their spaces are formally different, I aimed to have them seep into the other in some way.
The most prominent feature of this concept can be seen in how the large auditorium sits atop the entire structure. Aside from being yet another floor stacked upon the other, its presence is dramatized as it can be seen from other spaces below. It is as if it is crashing down like a asteroid piercing through the ceiling.
