CASCADING CABIN
The Cabin in Tomales is set along a steep sloping hillside, so the existing landscape is a challenge to design upon. I approached this issue by allowing circulation throughout the cabin to move with slope.
By breaking up the cabin into three sequential parts with their own amenities, I was able to offset them vertically allowing them to drop down and cascade along the hill. The three spaces would be positioned at differing elevations and merged with one diagonal hallway which gracefully steps down into the next space.
